The guides/Nightstand basics

A place for your phone.
A clock for your night.

Four simple steps to set up an Android nightstand clock before you turn out the lights.

01 / THE VIEW

Start with a full-screen clock.

A full-screen clock uses the app’s display for the time. A widget sits on your Android home screen alongside your other apps. Choose the view that suits how you want to use your phone.

Digital Alarm Clock offers LED and full-screen styles, plus widgets and weather on some clock styles. Alarm Clock Neon offers widget font color and transparency customization, as well as a full-screen clock.

02 / THE ROOM

Let your room set the brightness.

Open your chosen clock and use its brightness adjustment. Check it from where you actually sleep, with the room lights as you’ll leave them. Start dim and raise it only as much as you find comfortable.

03 / THE SETUP

Give your phone a steady spot.

Put the phone on a stable, uncovered surface or a suitable stand where you can see it. Keep it clear of pillows, bedding and edges, and leave the charging cable where it won’t pull the phone down.

If you plan to keep the display on, connect a compatible charger and follow your phone and charger manufacturer’s instructions.

04 / THE CHECK

Try an alarm before bedtime.

Check the alarm time, selected sound and alarm volume. Set a short test alarm and try the dismissal option you plan to use, including shake or math if selected.

Phone settings, Android versions and app versions can differ. Review any setup prompts in your app and check your phone’s guidance if an alarm doesn’t behave as expected. For help, contact the app’s support team with your phone model, Android version and app name.
